Wine Barrels Converted into Homes

Oh, the 70s. If life could only be that simple - and affordable - again.
I took these two books out of the library and I suggest you track them down for some more great inspiration. They were both published in 1977, (the year Star Wars was released and Elvis died).

Top set of images are from a home in Mendocino, California made from recycled wine tanks. Available on Amazon - The Craftsman Builder by Art Boericke and Barry Shapiro

Mr. Turtleneck's images are from his home in Ukiah, California. He and his wife picked up the wine vat from a winery converting to aluminum. It's a 26,000 gallon container that measures just under 500 s.f on two floors. The entire dwelling cost less than $2000 (in 1977). Available on Amazon - Rescued buildings: The art of living in former schoolhouses, skating rinks, fire stations, churches, barns, summer camps, and cabooses by Jacopetti, Vanmeter and McCall

I'd live in either of them.
