Whether you're grabbing the ubiquitous Beatle boot, the vintage combat or the city overboot you can't go wrong.

2. Ann Demeulemeester - Ms. Demeulemeester has made a name for herself with her womens' boots, now it's the guys turn! Go to her site for more pics.
3. N.D.C. (nom de code) - made by hand. Known as everyone's best kept shoe secret, ndc give distressed a whole new name.
4. Vintage Combat - you survived Lollapalooza '92 thanks to these babies so get them out and polish them up,
5. Diet Butcher Slim Skin - the 'bizarrely brilliant' Japanese line to keep your eyes open for.
6. The City Overboot - Marc Jacobs' men have their rubbers on.
7. Vintage Biker - if you prefer leather over rubber.
8. The Beatle boot - always a classic and perfect for the Dior 19 cm raw denim

There are a few styles by Varvatos that are a little more approachable than the button ankle boot - try the Mercer or the basic black ankle boot with laces. Varvatos also does a suede desert boot that might do the trick with the Tom B. Cole Haan is another option. Try either the Chelsea or Sawyer English Moc boots. Cole Haans are known for their comfort so he might be sold there! If none of those work try the old staple - Prada.

Beatle boots can be grabbed at high end vintage shops - they're usually in stock as they were popular for about fifteen years. Not sure where you are - in NY try What Comes Around Goes Around, Seattle try Red Light, Vancouver try Deluxe Junk or Decades, Los Angeles try Wasteland.

Those boots are great. Unfortunately, they're FW 08/09 now and most likely won't be available in store. You could try calling a JV boutique or Fred Segal in LA.

Holt Renfrew in Canada also carried them. I'd recommend calling the stores first. They usually ship winter gear out between the end of Jan. second week of Feb.
I just checked eBay and there are a lot of Varvatos boots from last season. Try there too.
